Artistic Additions Tattoos

Legally you must be 18 or older to get a tattoo. With parental consent we will tattoo a minor as young as 16, but the parent must bring their state-issued ID as well as a copy of the child’s birth certificate and the child’s State or School ID the time of the appointment.
Yes, We take all major credit cards.
We are a fast-paced and very busy shop. In order to guarantee that you are able to get your tattoo or piercing at the time you want it, we encourage you to make an appointment. Located in the heart of Dover along DuPont hwy. we get a lot of traffic, so walk-ins are always welcome!
At Artistic Additions, we make health and safety our primary concern. Because of this, shop owner Larry Normile has made the decision to transition the shop to use all pre-sterilized, single-use, disposable equipment. There is literally no better way to guarantee the safety of not only our clients but employees as well.
We highly suggest you stay out of the sun while your tattoo is healing. Once the healing process is complete (skin is no longer flaking and has lost that glossy “new skin” look) we recommend a sunscreen with the highest available SPF. Even with this layer of protection prolonged exposure is not advised as it will cause your tattoo to fade and lose color. This is even more critical in tanning beds.
Absolutely! In some cases darker skin tone can limit the pigments that are used for your tattoo, but in no way prevents it! Our artists will work with you to achieve optimal results!
Many darker complected people think they need to stick with solid black or black and gray designs, and while they do look great on dark skin, you aren’t limited to this! Bold, bright primary colors work well on dark skin. Reds, true blue, oranges and some yellows really pop!
Shop owner Larry Normile says:
“Honestly, it was a toss-up between this and another name. I don’t want to disclose the other name because it’s so awesome, someone else might try to take it! Haha! I decided to go with Artistic Additions because I thought the name automatically makes you think of art which is in line with my goal. I want to let people know that we are artists first, and not just trying to take your money for that new tattoo or piercing. We love art and look forward to creating a lasting impression with each of our clients.”
A tip is a great way to show your artist or piercer that you are happy with their work and had a great experience. This is an intensely personal industry, so it feels great to receive any sign of appreciation from clients.
“I recently had a client bring me cupcakes because they felt bad that they hadn’t tipped me after receiving their piercing. I can’t tell you how awesome it felt that they thought enough of me to spend time baking cupcakes! Maybe not so good for my girlish figure, but it was definitely a confidence booster!”
-Isaac the Piercer
Spend some time looking at tattoos and pictures. Tattoo magazines, Google, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest are all great resources you can use to gather references. Once you have some ideas schedule a consultation with one of our artists to discuss your ideas and develop a plan. Be sure to bring your pictures and references along with you!
By law, we are not allowed to tattoo anyone under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances. Alcohol thins the blood, causing you to bleed a great deal more which can complicate things for your artist and prevent the ink from saturating your skin.
Our shop-minimum is $50.
